Today I’m supposed to be seeing a child
A baby, my first… but again, I’m the child
A tall, too thoughtful and bearded child
I was the stubborn child, to my dad
To my mom, a good son, a brave lad
If for her alone, I can never go bad
I'll have a child of my own
Watch it learn and grow
Nurture it to know
Like my parents did me
Like my poetic parents showed me
To train their minds to step the world in great pace.
